| Hitmen lose Muhs for season Assistant captain commits to SUNY-Fredonia February 10, 2009 Wayne, NJ - In the Hitmen's last loss, on 2/1/09 at the hands of the Bridgewater Bandits, a lot more than two points were lost. In a first period collision, assistant captain Mike Muhs, hit the ice and limped to the bench. After working with the Bandits trainer between periods, he suited back up, tried to skate again, only to find that his knee was inoperable, out with a torn ACL. Muhs, who came to the Hitmen in an early season trade in November of 2007 from the NH Jr Monarchs, was truly an unsung hero in last seasons magical EJHL championship run. "Mike really solidified our line-up last season playing with Mark Armstrong and Will Frederick, he was a difference maker and put us over the top," commented coach Harris. "He is a point a game guy for us, tenacious on the forecheck, outstanding on draws, and very nifty with the puck. He will be sorely missed both on and off the ice." On the brighter side of things for Mike and the Muhs family is his commitment to play next fall for the Blue Devils of SUNY-Fredonia. |
