March 19, 2009

Wayne, NJ - On the heels of capturing their second straight EJHL Championship, the Jersey Hitmen are proud to announce the commitments of EJHL player of the year, Jeremy Langlois, EJHL playoff MVP, Colin Markison, and EJHL regular season assists leader, Kevin Czepiel.

Langlois, who finished the year as the EJHL scoring leader (35-47-82), and recently named EJHL offensive player of the year and EJHL player of the year accepted a full scholarship to play in the ECAC for the Quinnipiac Bobcats in the fall of 2009.

Czepiel, who lead the EJHL in assists (58), will travel down the road from his home in Holyoke, MA and play for the Minutemen of UMASS Amherst in Hockey East. Joining Czepiel in Hockey East will be rookie phenom, Colin Markison. Markison, fresh off being named EJHL play-off MVP, has accepted a full scholarship to play at the University of Vermont. Markison will return to the Hitmen next season and land in Burlington, Vermont in the fall of 2011.

"I am extremely proud of all three of these boys," commented coach Toby Harris. "They all came into our program this summer with one goal and that was to defend our EJHL championship, and they all played major factors in the series victory." Harris went on to comment, "Jeremy Langlois is a tremendous player. He processes the game well, has an incredible knack of always being around the puck, and obvious can light the lamp, Quinnipiac is getting an amazing kid and an amazing player!"

"Kevin Czepiel came to us from the NE Jr Falcons program ready to learn, and ready to take his game to the next level. He knew he had deficiencies in his game, but worked hard every day to get better, both on the ice and in the weight room, he literally did whatever it took to attain his dream of playing DI hockey. Kevin's speed and tenacity will be welcomed at UMASS, and I know coach Cahoon will love the way Kevin plays."

"Colin Markison has really come a long way from midget hockey last season," said coach Harris. "He undoubtedly has the quickest first step in the league, and his ability to separate himself from oncoming defenders is something that you can not teach. He really matured in season, and I was impressed how he battled through the highs and lows of his first junior season. Only a sophomore in high school, and 92 birthdate, the Catamounts will be getting one heck of a player in 2011."

With the commitments of Langlois, Czepiel and Markison, the Hitmen have now placed nine players off their championship roster to college, eight division one.
