Decisions Made As tryouts for the 2009-10 season quickly approach the Hitmen are proud to announce that two members of the 08-09 U-19 team have decided on schools for next season. Matt Ruthberg will be taking his game down route 287 where he will suit up for the Ice Knights. Fellow teammate David Rose will head to Pennsylvania to the University of Scranton. Ruthberg came to the Hitmen midway through the season after a stint at the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, NY. It took him a few weeks to adjust to his new surroundings, but turned in an excellent end to the season. “Matt has great offensive upside and a very good knowledge of the game. I have no doubt that he will have a successful career at Rutgers.” Commented coach Barling. Rose, who was with the team from the beginning, saw his play elevate at a steady pace throughout the course of the season. “When David came to us he had a lot of tools, but lacked a physical side to his game, as well as an attention to details. David worked hard over the course of the season to improve these areas and he saw that work pay off as his production increased greatly as the season played out. It’s great to see a kid who worked as hard as David rewarded with this opportunity, I wish him all the best.” Said coach Barling. Ruthberg, a Suffern, NY native and Rose who hails from Allamuchy, NJ become the 2nd and 3rd players from the 2008-09 U-19 squad to make the jump to the college ranks. Both schools are ACHA Division 1 members. |
