Spring Program Overview
The AAA tournament team program is becoming one of the most popular programs offered by the Jersey Hitmen Hockey Club. Our attention to detail and commitment to players in the 'off season' is unparalleled. We demand that each player has the discipline, determination, character and talent level that we look for in our junior players. During this slow period in hockey (spring/summer) the Hitmen use this time to get involved with players and families on a "low commitment" basis. So, as each player progresses and is age eligible for our junior program we have already created a lasting relationship with the families and players prior to making their next BIG hockey decision.
We also use these teams to stay busy during the aforementioned "slow period" with quality players from the mid atlantic area and beyond. We have increasingly expanded the area from which we draw our players from to include all of the US and Canada. While we still focus on the atlantic district, we will go "out of area" to add quality players to our team.
An additional reason for putting these teams together is to give some of the top players in this area new opportunities. Such as participating in some of the top tournaments in North America and against some of the top players from around the world. These teams also provide the players and families the freedom to play with some the players that they would normally be competing against. The players are also exposed to new teaching methods and coaching.
The Jersey Hitmen have many goals that we want to accomplish with each team. One, and the most important, is for the players and their parents to have an enjoyable, fun filled weekend and a great experience. The players and families that have come with us in the past have had a great time at the rink as well as away from the rink. A close second, is that every player learns something from his coaches and teammates. Another goal is to put together as strong a team as possible and enter them in the top AAA level tournaments offered.
We will strive to put together the most competitive team as possible. Our staff scouts numerous youth games each season and our selections are based on ongoing evaluations at those games, as well as the spring tryouts and recommendations we get from trusted, independent sources. We select the players we feel earned an invitation by their level of play. We do not get to see every team or every player, that is why we rely heavily on our tryout camp.
We have entered our spring/summer teams in such tournaments as the Chowder Cup (Walpole, MA), Jr. Chowder Cup (Walpole, MA), Hub Cup (Bridgewater, MA), Pre-Draft Showcase (Walpole, MA), Prospects (Toronto), CT. Yankees (Stamford, CT), The Spring Fling (Marlboro, MA), The Ronald MacDonald Classic (Toronto, ON), The Icebreaker (Marlboro, MA). Each team also practices weekly before participating in each tournament where each team will play between 4-6 games.
Between the high level coaching, off ice training sessions and highly competitive AAA tournaments your player will leave this program a more complete player!
