Hitmen Special In Victory Over Rockets

Bridgewater, NJ - The Jersey Hitmen used 2 power play goals and 1 shorthanded goal to beat the NJ Rockets, 5-1, on Wednesday afternoon. In period one, the Hitmen got on the board early (16:41) as newly acquired defenseman, Ben Pirko, ripped a one time pass from fellow defender, Thomas Keane, past Doug Connor on the power play to put the Hitmen up 1-0. However, just three minutes later, the Rockets would answer with a power play marker of their own to knot the score at one. After killing off a 5 on 3 power play, the Hitmen would get back to work and with four minutes remaining in the period, Dartmouth recruit, and NCDC leading scorer, Jeff Losurdo, would fire home a rebound on the power play to put the Hitmen up 2-1 entering the second period.

In period two, the Hitmen would take over, as Ryan Finnegan would tally his fourth of the season on a nifty play in tight. Tanner Palocsik and Thomas Keane assisting on the goal. Finnegan's tally would be followed closely by Logan Stork's first goal in a Hitmen uniform. In just his third game, Stork, would convert an unbelievable play from Luke Edgerton to put the Hitmen up 4-1 at the end of two.

The sole goal in the third stanza came from, Connor Quinn, shorthanded goal at 3:12. Quinn stole the puck from a Rockets defender and raced down the ice, beating Connor, five hole for his 7th goal of the season. Quinn's 7th goal of the season lifted him to 2nd in NCDC goal scoring and #2 in points with 15.

This weekend the Hitmen travel to North Andover, MA to face off against the second place IHC. Both games will be at Merrimack College and broadcast on Hockey TV. Follow all the action, Hitmen Saturday night at 7:30pm and Sunday morning at 11:30am.
