Jersey Hitmen Premier Edge The Nighthawks In OT

Wayne, NJ- The Jersey Hitmen sweep the Connecticut Nighthawks with back to back OT wins.  In Game 1, the Hitmen were lead by forward Trevor Veneklase with 2 goals including the OT game winning goal. The Hitmen lost the 3-2 lead with one second remaining in regulation time but Veneklase, a '98 from Brentwood TN, leads the team in goals (9) and points (17) scored the winner on a nice backdoor assist from linemate Abel Christians.  Matthew Paiotti scored his first of the season and starter Cole Mulholland made 32 saves for his team leading 5th win of the season.

In the rubber match, the Hitmen squeaked a 5-4 shootout win for their 13th win of the season.  Abel Christians (5,6) and Lukas Kucera (4,5) each tallied 2 goals a piece and starter Kenton Kim made 35 saves for his 4th win of the season.  Tarin Mcnamara and Austin Master each added assists and Lucas Kucera, Tristian Waechter and Austin Master all scored in the shootout to seal the win.

Head coach Dan Henningson on the weekend "The Nighthawks are a hard working team and they never quit.  We had the lead in the 3rd period in both games and we need to do a better job protecting that advantage.  We have a tough schedule coming up and we must learn from our mistakes.  All in all we are finding ways to win hockey games and that's always a positive."
