No one knows the meaning of the word commitment more than Trevor Stenberg. After spending the last five years of his playing career with the Jersey Hitmen at the U16, Elite, and Premier levels, Trevor is ready to embark on a new journey where he will bring his passion, work ethic, and unmatched commitment, to Framingham State University, where the longtime Hitmen will tend goal at the NCAA Division III level.

“I’m very excited to join Framingham State this fall, I feel the school gives me the best chance to succeed with the programs they offer, the smaller class sizes, and the hockey program which I am looking forward to joining. It will be a big adjustment to balance hockey and schoolwork but I’m ready to take on that challenge. It was an easy decision to choose Framingham State for my next four years” said Trevor on his commitment to Framingham State University.

Trevor’s presence will certainly be missed in the Ice Vault, the Hitmen organization, and by the coaches and teammates he has had along the way. Of those people, Brandon Stroud, former bench boss of the Jersey Hitmen had this to say:

“Trevor is a kid that came up through the Hitmen organization starting at the U15 level. He has trusted the process, worked hard, and been an outstanding teammate. He has had a great junior career and I am extremely excited for him to continue his career into college.”

Cole Mulholland, Trevor’s former goaltending partner of many years also had a few words on Trevor’s recent accomplishment:

“Trevor is the type of goalie and teammate who always pushed others to be at their best. He has put in a lot of work and has earned the right to show what he has at the next level.”

It will be at Framingham State that Trevor will rejoin his longtime Hitmen teammate and friend, Matthew Paiotti, who has recently completed his freshman year at Framingham, registering 6 goals and 2 assists while also earning MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors for the last week of January. Matthew had this to say about his upcoming reunion with Trevor:

“Sten is a great fit for FSU hockey. I believe that his ability in net, along with his outgoing personality will allow him to fit right in. I’ve seen him develop over the course of two years in juniors and I’m excited to see what he can do at the collegiate level.”

In his final season wearing the iconic Hitmen jerseys, Trevor played for two coaches in Dan Henningson and Darius Radziszewski who both cherished their time spent with Trevor over the course of the season.

“I’m excited for Trevor and his family on his commitment to Framingham State. Trevor climbed his way up through our junior ranks from our Elite team to the Premier team! Trevor is an athletic goaltender with a high compete level. Framingham State is getting a great teammate and a hard-working kid with a passion for the game!” said Dan Henningson, who spent two years coaching Trevor at the Premier level.

“Trevor’s leadership, fun-loving personality, and work ethic made my first season behind the bench a memorable one. His experience in the organization and presence in the room made the transition from playing to coaching very easy for me and I’ll forever be grateful for how much he helped me this past season. I am a better coach for having Trevor on the team this season. He will do great things at the NCAA level” said former Hitmen player and current Premier Head Coach Darius Radziszewski.

As Trevor’s time with the Hitmen comes to an end, the Hitmen would like to acknowledge the dedication and commitment shown by Trevor to the organization. Over the course of his Hitmen career, Trevor amassed over 75 games, contributed to the success of many teammates, and left a lasting impression on the Ice Vault and Hitmen family. With that said, the Hitmen wish Trevor luck going forward and know that wherever life takes him, he will always give the extra degree that makes the biggest difference. 212.
