Wayne, NJ - The Jersey Hitmen Premier is proud to announce that veteran forward, Josh Henke, has accepted an offer to play at Lake Superior State University for the fall of 2015. Henke, currently on the injured reserve list with an upper body injury, sits 11th in USPHL league scoring with a 12-20-32 scoring line in just 27 games played. In 2013-2013, the last year of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, Henke, spearheaded a lethal Hitmen offense leading them to a regular season title and a Dineen Cup Championship. That season Henke posted a 26-44-70 line in 51 games and committed to the University of Maine on an athletic scholarship. After a coaching change at Maine, Henke decided to rejoin the Hitmen, and look for college options closer to his hometown, Trenton, Michigan."I tip my hat to Josh's perseverance throughout the past couple of years," commented coach Toby Harris. "It is never easy for a player to commit to a coach, a staff and a university, only to see that coach and staff change. However, I was glad to see Josh and the Maine staff were able to part ways amicably and happy to have such an offensive talent rejoin our club." Harris continued, "I also appreciate Josh's loyalty to the Hitmen program. He had a lot of JR options after playing a season in Hockey East, but decided to come back to New Jersey and help us make another Dineen Cup run. The Lake State staff and hockey community will be getting a tremendous offensive talent, and I wish Josh and his family nothing but the best as he moves onto Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan in the fall."Lake Superior State University is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and enrolls about 2,600 students. Its hockey program has won three NCAA titles, most recently in 1994. The "Lakers" are members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). Henke becomes the 10th Hitmen Premier player/alumni to commit to a Division I university this season and the 14th player in the Hitmen organization to commit DI.
