Winning Streak Continues

October 11th – The Jersey Hitmen 18U continue their winning streak with a 6 to 1 victory over the Skipjacks. Goaltender Tyler Harmon back stopped the victory by making 26 saves. Todd Goehring broke open the scoring at the 2:52 mark of the first. Todd’s goal was assisted by Alex Whelan. Hunter Garlasco would add another goal in the first with assist’s going to James Callahan and Whelan. The Hitmen take a 2 to 1 lead into the second when Chris Mazzella capitalizes on a power play goal by receiving an excellent pass from line-mate Dylan Stephanik. Casey Delorenzo would add to the score at the 11:46 mark of the second on a great solo effort and Rob Clerc would add two goals to give the Hitmen a comfortable lead of 6 to 1 at the end of two. The third period would go scoreless as both teams trading offensive efforts at both ends of the ice.

October 11th – The 18U team would play their second league game in the Hitmen Fall Classic vs. Arch-rival Boston Jr. Bruins 18 U team. Matt Kidney would gain the lone goal in the first with an extra-effort goal at the 4:43 mark with an assist by line-mate Bobby Hampton. The second period would be dominated by the Hitmen. Goals by Bobby Hampton and Chris Mazzella would give the Hitmen a 3 to 0 lead heading into the third. Chris Mazzella would strike early in the period with a goal at the .44 second mark with an excellent solo effort. The teams would battle throughout the third and the contest would end with a 4 to 1 victory for the Hitmen 18U team.

The Hitmen 18U team will host the Chinese 18U National team this Thursday at 6:30 PM at the Ice Vault arena in Wayne, NJ. The weekend schedule will include contests vs. the North Jersey Avalanche on Saturday, October 18th at 8:00 PM at the Ice House in Hackensack, NJ and on Sunday, October 19th vs. Brewster in Brewster, NY at 12:45 PM.
