18U Sweep Team Comcast

September 26th – The Jersey Hitmen 18U team remain undefeated in league play with 2 to 1 victory over the Comcast at the Ice Vault Arena. Goaltender Tyler Harmon stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced. Comcast would strike first with a power play goal in the first. The Hitmen would strike twice in the second period with a goal at the 4:56 mark by Alex Whelan. The second and game winning goal would be scored at the 1:02 mark by Robert Clerc with assists from Todd Goehring and Matt Kidney.

September 27th – The 18U team would head to South Jersey for the second game of the home and home series with Team Comcast. The teams would battle to a scoreless first period. Robert Clerc would break open the scoring at the 16:15 mark of the second with assists from Matt Kidney and Todd Goehring. The second period would end in a 1 to 1 tie. The third period would also end in a tie with the Hitmen taking the lead at the 5:46 mark with a goal from Matt Kidney with the lone assist from Robert Clerc. Comcast would tie the game at the 6:09 mark of the third. The teams would play a scoreless 5 Minute over-time period. The teams would exchange chances at each end but both goaltenders kept their teams in the game. The over-time shootout would have both teams using 6 players in the shoot out but on the 6thand final turn for the Hitmen, Todd Goehring would snipe a top shelf goal over the out reached glove hand of the Comcast goaltender for the victory. Goaltender, Ryan Glander would stop 36 shots for the Hitmen.

The Hitmen 18U team will host our USPHL rival South Kent Selects this Wednesday, October 1st @ 6:30 PM at the Ice Vault arena in Wayne. The Hitmen 18U team will have this coming weekend off and return to action the weekend of October 10th – 13th by participating in the Hitmen Fall Classic in Wayne, NJ.
