The weekend was set with two home games against the Brooklyn Aviators separated by an away game against Applecore. The boys looking to build on the 3 points from last weekend set to play league rivals, the Aviators from Brooklyn. The team got off to a slow start and quickly fell behind 2-0 by the end of the first period. The boys began their push back with two power play goals in the second period scored by Ryan Siffringer and Sean Vlasich. The team dominated the Aviators over the last two periods by outshooting their opponent by 31-12. Rory Mauer scored the game winner with help from Nick Bosch with .05 seconds left in the game. Joe Bagi made 19 saves to earn his first win as a Hitmen.
The 2001 Hitmen team traveled to Brewster to face the 2001 Applecore team. The boys got off to a fast start and staked themselves to a 3-1 lead by the end of the 2nd period. In a penalty filled 3rd period, Applecore fought back and ended up tying the game at 4-4. The game would end with that the tie. Chris Malota had two goals and an assist in the game. The team is looking forward to a rematch this coming weekend with Applecore at home.
The final game of the weekend was the rematch with the Aviators. Again the boys found themselves down early in the third period by a 3-1 score. Again the team began their pushback. Chris Taranto found the back of the net with just under 10 minutes to play in the third to make the score 3-2. Less than 1 minute later Chris Malota scored with the feed from Tommy Kleinman to knot the game at 3-3. The team tilted the ice and outshot the Aviators 30-14. Much like Friday the boys never quit and found a way to win. Chris Malota scored with 1:20 left in the game to secure a 4-3 victory. The team went 2-0-1 over the weekend and is 4-1-2 over the last 7 games.
