The Jersey Hitmen Elite hit the road for a two game weekend series against the Bay State Breakers.  The Breakers are 5-5 in the regular season and the Hitmen were riding on a five game winning streak with a 6-4-1 record.

Game one saw no scoring until the second period when Lucas Luppino (5,6) scored two goals in the second to give the Hitmen a 2-0 lead.  The Breakers would cut into the lead 2-1, but starter Mike Cuozzo shut the door making 33 saves for the Hitmen's 6th straight win.  Cuozzo improves his record to 2-2 with an impressive 2.00 GAA and a .915 SV%.

Game two saw plenty of action, but not in favor of the Hitmen.  The Hitmen jumped to a 3-1 lead with goals from J.R Barone (6), Glenn Florczak (4) and Devon Palmieri (6).  The two goal lead was short lived as a controversial call on behalf of the Breakers queued the Breakers comeback.  Lucas Luppino (6) scored the lone Hitmen goal in the 2nd period, but the Breakers would score two unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead heading into the final frame.  The Hitmen regrouped in the 2nd intermission and responded with goals from Devon Palmieri (7) and Vincent Petruolo (2) giving the Hitmen a 6-5 lead.   With one minute remaining in the game, the Breakers scored on the power play to send the game into overtime.  Neither team would score in OT and the game went into a shootout.  All three Hitmen shooters were unsuccessful and the Breakers walked away with the win, ending the Hitmen winning streak at six games.

Coach Henningson comments, "I thought we had our best game thus far Saturday night and we had a great start on Sunday, but we got away from our game in the second period.  We did a good job fighting back to get the point and will continue to learn from our mistakes."
