HITMEN SWEEP PROVIDENCE AT HITMEN FALL CLASSIC

Coming off a sweep against the Portland Pirates, the Hitmen Elite looked to face the Providence Capitals in a two-game series at the Hitmen Fall Classic.  In Game 1, both teams were sluggish trying to find a rhythm after a couple days off leading to their Sunday night match up.   The Capitals struck first but the Hitmen responded with two quick goals to make it 2-1 after the 1st period.  Hitmen veterans Glenn Florczak (3)  and Lucas Luopino (2)  each scored to give the Hitmen the lead after the first.The Capitals would counter with two more goals to give them a 3-2 lead early in the 3rd period.  With 11 minutes remaining in the game, the Hitmen would score on the power play to tie it up 3-3.  Tom Brennan scored his first of the season on a beautiful back door pass from Glenn Florczak.  Neither team would add another goal in regulation time and the game headed into overtime.It didn't take long in OT for the Hitmen to capitalize.  Forward Travis Geraci tipped in a point shot from Defenseman Ryan Romeo to give the Hitmen the 4-3 win.  Starter Robbie Campbell (2-2) made 30 saves in the victory.Game 2 saw the Hitmen jump to a 7-1 lead midway through the 2nd period.  The Capitals would chip away at the lead, but the Hitmen held on for the 9-5 victory.  Lucas Luppino (3,4) and Nathan Black (3,4) lead the way with game with two goals each, as well as Mike Meisenbacher (4), J.R Barone (5) and Mark Tomashchek (2) adding goals.  Starter Nick Modica (3-1) would get his 3rd win of the season.
