WAYNE NJ – The Hitmen welcomed the first place Bruins to the Ice Vault.  The Bruins have lost one regular season game all year and are on a 16 game winning streak heading into the weekend series.

The Bruins wasted no time in Game 1 scoring two goals in the first 5 minutes of play.  Down 2-0 the Hitmen would find themselves chipping away at the lead throughout the game.  Vincent Petruolo (3) would cut the lead to 2-1 but the Bruins would quickly respond taking back a two-goal lead.  Petruolo (4) scored his second of the night and single handedly kept the Hitmen within striking distance. The Bruins and Hitmen would trade goals early in the second half to make it 4-3. Travis Geraci (7) scored his 7th of the season on the power play but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback.  The Bruins held off the Hitmen scoring an empty net goal for the 5-3 victory.

The Hitmen came flying out of the gates in Game two as Mike Meisenbacher (12) would give the Hitmen a much needed 1-0 lead, scoring on a one-timer from line mate Glen Florczak.  The Bruins tied the game in the second period and the game stay tied heading into the third period.  With both teams trading scoring chances it would be the Hitmen who would take the 2-1 lead mid-way through the third.  Nathan Black (13) capitalized on a rebound shot from line-mate Vincent Petruolo.  Black’s 13th goal of the season would hold on to be the game-winning goal.  Starter Robbie Campbell made 33 saves in the victory improving his record to 7-4 with a 2.36 GAA and a .912 SV%.

Head Coach Dan Henningson on the weekend, “I thought our guys played their best weekend of the season.  Other than the first 5 mintues of the first game, we went toe to toe with the best team in the league.   The Bruins were a good test for us and I think we now know what it takes to win come playoff time.”
