The Hitmen returned to their winning ways by sweeping the Frederick Freeze in a three game set this weekend (9-2, 5-1 and 5-2). Thomas Foschini paced the boys in blue in their first game on Saturday afternoon, scoring two of the first three goals. His first goal to tie it at one was a highlight reel goal as he dove to redirect the puck past the sprawling goalie. Keith Bishop (2), Isaac Davison (2), Braden Ploehn, Danny Cangelosi and Frank Steffe also struck for the Hitmen.
On Sunday morning, Hunter Kronk got the Hitmen going only 4:54 into the first period. Anthony Steffe would score the next two goals to give the Hitmen a 3-0 lead. Evan Hoey’s power-play goal extended the lead to 4-0. Ploehn would cap the scoring on a hard snap shot from the high slot to seal a 5-1 Hitmen victory.

The Hitmen continued to roll on Sunday afternoon as they quickly erased a 2-0 deficit and scored five unanswered goals on route to a 5-1 win. Cangelosi, Kronk and Cole Garabed all scored in the first period to pace the Hitmen to a 3-2 lead. Bishop scored twice in the second to complete the scoring as the Hitmen would go on to win 5-2.

The Hitmen played very discipline against a scrappy Frederick squad and took advantage of bad penalties as they struck six times on the power-play. The Hitmen killed 14 of 16 penalties and have killed 86% of their opponents’ power-plays. The Hitmen improved to 12-3-2 on the season and will be competing in the Islanders’ Hockey Club showcase next weekend.
