On Sunday morning, Hunter Kronk got the Hitmen going only 4:54 into the first period. Anthony Steffe would score the next two goals to give the Hitmen a 3-0 lead. Evan Hoey’s power-play goal extended the lead to 4-0. Ploehn would cap the scoring on a hard snap shot from the high slot to seal a 5-1 Hitmen victory.
The Hitmen continued to roll on Sunday afternoon as they quickly erased a 2-0 deficit and scored five unanswered goals on route to a 5-1 win. Cangelosi, Kronk and Cole Garabed all scored in the first period to pace the Hitmen to a 3-2 lead. Bishop scored twice in the second to complete the scoring as the Hitmen would go on to win 5-2.
The Hitmen played very discipline against a scrappy Frederick squad and took advantage of bad penalties as they struck six times on the power-play. The Hitmen killed 14 of 16 penalties and have killed 86% of their opponents’ power-plays. The Hitmen improved to 12-3-2 on the season and will be competing in the Islanders’ Hockey Club showcase next weekend.
