Marlborough, MA - The USPHL held its annual Spring Showcase this past weekend at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA, featuring forty eight teams competing across three divisions.  On Sunday May 8, three of those teams were named champions.

HITMEN NAVY TAKE A DIVISION TITLE

The Hitmen Navy team capped off a 5-0-1 weekend with a 1-0 win in the A Division Championship game against Hitmen White. Hitmen Navy started off on Friday with a 2-2 tie against the Islanders HC Orange. The team’s two games on Saturday proved to be decisive victories, as the Hitmen Navy knocked off the Springfield Pics Red and Syracuse.

Sunday’s playoff round started in much the same fashion with a victory over Hampton Roads Clover. The semifinal round, however, saw a tightly-fought contest that ended with Hitmen Navy winning 3-2 in overtime against PAL Blue. The final game similarly required overtime to settle the contest.

PAL ORANGE WIN B DIVISION

PAL Orange enjoyed an impressive weekend that saw the team post a 6-0 record. The team played twice on Friday and recorded wins against the Jersey Shore Whalers and the Florida Eels Prospects. Saturday saw PAL Orange pick up a shutout win over the Hitmen 3 team.

The Sunday playoff games followed an identical script: a win against the Eels Advocare team in the quarterfinals followed by shutout wins over Hampton Roads Green and the CP Dynamo in the semifinals and finals respectively.

HITMEN WIN 16U DIVISION CROWN

The Jersey Hitmen 16U team tallied a 5-0-1 record en route to the 16U Division title last weekend. Their opening contest on Friday ended in a 2-2 deadlock with the Rockets Premier. The following day, the team caught fire and dispatched the Pics 16U and Virtua 16U, allowing only one goal in each of the games.

The semifinal round on Sunday saw a nail-biter as the Hitmen 16U edged the Hitmen 15U team 2-1 in overtime. In the division championship, the team knocked off PAL 16U 3-2 in regulation.
