Wayne, NJ – After a disappointing 4-2 loss and 4-3 overtime loss in the season opener to the Rochester Monarchs, the Hitmen bounced back to sweep the NY Aviators.

The Hitmen jumped to a quick start in game 1 when Matt Rainey (2,3) scored in the first shift of the game and set the tone for the weekend. Rainey added another goal for his second of the game in the 7-3 victory.  Starter Danny Porth made 20 saves for his first win of the season, Frangos (3,4) also had two goals, Alex Borowiec (1), Chris Brunner-Grande (1) and returner Zach Briscoe (1) added tallies in the win.

The Hitmen continued their strong play in game 2 beating the Aviators 7-1 for the weekend sweep.  Starter Garret Stenberg made 24 saves for his first win of the season.  The Hitmen had 7 different goal scorers including Jon Hoogendoorn (1), Adam Marvin (1), Sam Delucia (1), Matt Rainey (4), Alex Borowiec (2), Zach Briscoe (2) and Chris Brunner- Grande (2).

Coach Dan Henningson comments, “I thought the guys played well this weekend.  They played better team defense and had more offensive zone possession resulting in scoring chances.  We had too many costly mistakes in our own end against Rochester that ended up in the back of our net.  We have a tough matchup versus PAL this weekend and we need to carry the momentum into the series.”
