Mulholland Leads Jersey Hitmen Premier Past Jersey Shore Whalers

Wayne, NJ - The Hitmen beat Jersey Shore Whalers 4-3 in an afternoon matinee. The Whalers opened the scoring on a bad bounce off a Hitmen defender to take the 1-0 lead.  The Hitmen quickly responded one minute later with Zach Thompson (3) scoring his 3rd goal of the season off a beautiful pass from Andrew Dreher.  The Hitmen found themselves down a goal in the 2nd period until Charles Stewart (4) created a turnover in the Whalers end and ripped it over the goalie's shoulder.  Zach Wilson (3) gave the Hitmen the 3-2 lead heading into the 3rd on a two-on-one shorthanded goal.  The Hitmen held the lead midway into the 3rd until the Whalers added a power play goal to make it a 3-3 game.  Matt Paiotti (5) scored the GWG with another short handed goal. This was his second SHG in back to back games. Paiotti barried his 5th of the season off a great pass from line mate Zach Wilson.

Cole Mulholland earned his 6th win of the season making 33 saves in the victory.  Muholland '99 from Pompton Lakes, NJ was solid in net, making big saves at crucial times.  His season stats ranked among the league leaders in all categories with a 1.77 GAA and a .927 SV%.

Head Coach Dan Henningson on Mulholland "Cole has been great all year for us.  He suffered a significant knee injury last season with our USP3 team and has put in a ton of work in the off season and it has paid off.  He competes every night and is giving us a chance to win."
