Coffey Chooses Colorado College

WAYNE, NJ — Jersey Hitmen NCDC forward Tyler Coffey announced on Thursday his commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey at Colorado College. Coffey is the second player to commit this season and the 8th Hitmen player with an NCAA Division I commitment to suit up for the NCDC club this season.   
 
“It’s a huge honor and lifelong dream,” Coffey said. “Colorado College is a tremendous school academically. The NCHC is arguably the best division in college hockey and I wanted to be a part of the what the coaching staff is building." 
 
In his first season with the NCDC team, Coffey is currently fifth on the team in scoring with nineteen points on fourteen goals and five assists. The Hamilton, NJ native has played in twenty one games so far this season after being called up from the Hitmen 18UAAA squad.
 
“We are extremely excited on Tyler's commitment to Colorado College,” said Toby Harris, head coach and general manager of the Hitmen. “Tyler has been part of the Hitmen organization for three seasons and has worked extremely hard for this opportunity. CC is a great spot for him to continue his hockey and academic career. Tyler had a handful of great institutions to choose from in the end, but the combination of the staff, the league, and academics lead Tyler to choose Colorado College. Our entire organization could not be more proud for Tyler and his family.”
 
In three seasons with the Hitmen (two seasons at 16U and a stint at 18U before the call up to NCDC) Coffey has put up a scoring line of - 79 games played - 68 goals 43 assists 111 points. He was also named USPHL 16U player of the year in 2016-2017 when he racked up a 40-26-66 scoring line in 30 games.
