Jersey Hitmen Premier Sweep NJ Rockets on Opening Weekend

JERSEY HITMEN PREMIER SWEEP NJ ROCKETS ON OPENING WEEKEND

 

Wayne, NJ – The NJ Hitmen opened the 2018/19 season with a bang by sweeping their in-state rivals, the NJ Rockets.    

 

Starter and returnee Cole Mulholland turned away 25 saves in game one for his first win of the season.  Mulholland returns to the Hitmen after posting an impressive 2.76 GAA and a .905 SV% in his rookie season.  After going down 1-0 early in the first, the Hitmen scored 4 unanswered goals. Defenseman Thomas Lamacchia, Artem Buzoverya (2) and Josh Mead scored to give the Hitmen a 4-1 lead.  The Rockets would chip away at the lead making it a 4-3 game until Josh Mead scored his 2nd of the night to seal the 5-3 win.  

 

Trevor Stenberg made the start for game two, turning away 26 saves for his first win of the season.  Trevor moved up to the Premier team after posting an impressive 2.58 GAA and .915 SV% with the Hitmen Elite last season.  Anton Nigay (1) opened the scoring and the Hitmen never looked back scoring 8 straight goals to take a 8-0 lead. Toivo Kramer (2), Connor Bizal (2) and Robbie Sheehan (2) all tallied 2 goals and Artem Buzoverya (3) stayed hot scoring his third goal of the season.  Final score 8-1 for the home team.

 

The Hitmen will look to continue their winning streak when they travel to the NY Avaitors Thursday afternoon for a matinee game.
