Hitmen 16U Premier Surges to Shootout Win over Palmyra

Down but not out, the Hitmen rallied from a 2-0 deficit and overcame a late Palmyra goal to defeat the Black Knights 4-3 in a shootout.

Trailing 2-0 late in the second, Connor Sedlak blocked a Palmyra point shot and rushed the puck down the ice on a 2 on 1.  Sedlak drove wide and made a nifty pass to Arthur Tsimerman who banged home a one-timer to put the Hitmen on the board.

Tony Wang knotted the game at two with just under seven minutes to play as he scored on a beautiful snap shot after gathering the puck deep in the offensive zone.  Riding the momentum, Aidan Garabed picked up a puck in the neutral zone and attacked the net with speed, scoring on a hard low snap shot to give the Hitmen a 3-2 lead with 2:12 remaining in the third.

With their goalie off, Palmyra scored on a scramble in front to tie the game at three with 52 seconds left. The Hitmen then had to rely on their red-hot penalty killing to keep Palmyra off the board in overtime as they successfully killed off a four on three.

Nick Johansson was excellent in the shootout as he stopped all three attempts.  ’03 Defenseman Jake Geraci delivered, scoring the only shootout goal to give the Hitmen a 4-3 victory.
