Ryan LaCorte

Ryan LaCorte

Assistant Coach, Hitmen 16U (2022 - 2023)

Ryan grew up in Pompton Plains, New Jersey.  He spent his youth playing hockey with the Colonials, Avalanche, and Rockets organizations including playing Tier 1 and Junior hockey.  In high school, Ryan also played for his hometown team, Pequannock High School.  Ryan continued to play in college at William Paterson University where he contributed as a team captain, winning the player’s player award in 2009, and helping the team to win the league championship in 2012.

Ryan began coaching ice hockey with the Colonials organization in 2012 and has spent the last seven years coaching at the Ice Vault for the Bandits.  Ryan has coached club hockey from the Mite through Midget age levels including seasons with the Bandits as the Pee Wee, Bantam, and Midget Head Coach.

In addition to his coaching experience at the club level, Ryan has four years of experience coaching high school hockey.  From 2019-2021, Ryan was the Head Coach of the West Milford/Pequannock High School team. He was the Assistant Coach at Ramsey High School from 2015-2017 and helped coach the team to a 2016 State High School Championship.

In college, Ryan majored in exercise science, worked as a certified personal trainer, and was the hockey trainer at the Athletic Republic training facility in Randolph, New Jersey.  During his time working in the exercise industry he trained youth hockey players in strength, conditioning, and skating.

Ryan has spent the last eight years serving as the Recreation Director for the Borough of Ringwood where, in addition to running events, his department administers youth and adult sports and exercise programs.  Ryan enjoys giving back to youth sports by educating and certifying youth sports coaches through his department’s coaches’ education program.

Ryan’s experiences on and off the ice have had a tremendous influence on his coaching philosophy.  He values the development process and how hockey can be an avenue to teach kids the value of being a great teammate. Ultimately, he believes hockey can play a vital role in helping kids become leaders and contributing adults. He is driven to push players to become their best.

Ryan has a Level 5 Certification from USA Hockey.
