Head Coach, Jersey Hitmen 18U (2022 - 2023)

Biography

Dan Henningson grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, where he played his youth hockey for the South Side Athletic Club.

Dan went on to play junior hockey in the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the Drayton Valley Thunder. Dan played three seasons in Drayton Valley and was the team’s captain his final year. Dan received Most Improved award his rookie year, Best Defenseman the final two years, and Team MVP in his last year.

Dan played NCAA Division I hockey for Quinnipiac University (ECAC). Throughout his collegiate career, Dan consistently ranked among the ECAC Hockey leaders in defensemen points and assists and was awarded Team MVP for two consecutive years.

Dan recently retired from a successful professional playing career. Dan signed with the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL) immediately after university. Dan attended the Chicago Blackhawks development camp the following season and later signed with Pittsburgh affiliate, Wilkes- Barre Scranton (AHL). Dan went on to play for the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) the next year where he was named Captain and Team MVP. Dan signed with the Chicago Express (ECHL) the following season, but was called up and played the majority of the year with Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (AHL), and Binghamton Senators (AHL).

Dan is now residing in South Orange, NJ with his wife and daughter, and excited to begin his coaching career with the Hitmen.
